Stop Snoring
When asleep a surprisingly large number of us snore. The well recognised noise happens because the normal smooth airflow into and out of your lungs is disrupted and becomes turbulent.
This causes the structures in your mouth, throat and nose to vibrate, producing the characteristic noise.
The commonest causes of snoring are are nasal polyps, your sleeping position and some health problems. The symptoms are well known to many people sick of the noise each night.
If you are a snorer not only do you often feel tired and grumpy next day, so do your family who may struggle to sleep due to the loudness of your snores.
If you are also very overweight then snoring may be a symptom of sleep apnoea, which is now recognised as a serious medical problem. When asleep your airways blocks for a few seconds so you can't breathe. This wakes you up so you can and when you go back to sleep the cycle repeats.
So you wake up many times during the night, which leaves you very fatigued next day. Depending on your job this could be very dangerous,
The treatment of snoring is now taken far more seriously than previously. There are many things you can do to help yourself with lifestyle changes and there are medical and surgical options as well. Most people find that a combination of treatments seem to be best to overcome the problem and get back to feeling full of energy.
